Use Google to find and download free videos for your cell phone

cellphone.png

Tech-Recipes has written up a simple explanation of how to use Google to find free videos for your cellphone:

Do you want to download a bunch of free videos for your cellular phone? This technique will show you how to search google to find tons of open directories containing free cell phone videos. No P2P or torrents required. Start your collection from the open collections of others.

I tried this and was able to download a small video to my celly pretty easily; however, since my cell phone kinda hates me, it decided not to play said video. However, I’m sure you’ll have better luck - if you have any other tricks for putting vids on your cell phone, let us know in the comments.

PEZ USB 2.0 [C-3PO]

Hack your PEZ dispenser with your USB stick and glowing LED’s for eyes. After I finished this I searched and found other PEZ USB hacks but none I could find with "glowing LED’s for eyes".

I wanted to to create this and still have a functioning PEZ dispenser but to my disdain the Cruizer was much too big and took up almost all my PEZ candy space and ended up only able to fit 3 pieces of PEZ candy into PEZ USB 2.0.

For this project I used.

1 C-3PO PEZ Dispenser U.S. Patent 4.966.305

1 SanDisk Cruizer mini 128 MB (because thats all I had available)

2 green LED’s

Small wire, solder, soldering iron

drill with small bit to bore out C-3P0’s eyes.

Electrical and Scotch tape

Small vice

Streamline family projects with Google Docs

google_docs.png

Tech blogger Charlene Li has written up a good practical list of the different uses she’s found for Google Docs when planning family tasks. The list includes:

  • Summer camp planning: As any parent of school-aged kids can attest, coordinating summer camps with the parents of all of my kids’ friends drives me into the ground every spring.
  • Prop list for children’s theater: To keep track of what props are needed and who’s gotten what, I’ve posted the prop list online.
  • Bank of Mom: My husband and I encourage our kids to save by giving them a 10% interest rate — monthly…I save it in a spreadsheet.

These are some great ideas, for sure. What have you used Google Docs for, family-wise? Thoughts in the comments.
