Hundreds of hand draw turkeys…

Img413 1451
Hah, this is awesome - a teaching assistant for a Psych class adds an extra page to an exam and says “draw a turkey” - here are the results, hundreds of hand-drawn turkeys (scanned, posted to Flickr)….

  • 9 hungry folks drew a cooked Butterball turkey
  • 5 had their turkey saying “eat me!” … but 6 had the turkey protest “don’t eat me!”
  • 17 turkeys were gobble, gobble-ing
  • 21 wished a Happy Thanksgiving
  • 8 wore a hat
  • 108 were “left handed” … 72 were “right handed” … although I counted freehand-drawn hands too, and wasn’t very exact about how I chose some of the blobbier ones

Ron Mueck @ The Brooklyn Museum (Giant people sculptures)

Mask Ii M
In Bed M
Over the weekend I checked out Ron Mueck’s sculptures at The Brooklyn Museum, it’s a pretty surreal experience. His work usually consists of huge scupltures of people that seem certain to move and chatter if you can just stare at them long enough, but they don’t. Some are small, some are just body parts. They’re extremely realistic and one of those exhibits you need to see in person. One thing I really liked - and perhaps it’s a trend - the museum has a film and a lot of “making of” so you can see how the works are created - if you’re in the area, or plan to visit, this isn’t one to miss.

Chris Booth’s rocks sculptures

Pumice
New Zealand based Chris Booth’s sculptures made from rocks, wood and natural objects… [via] - Link.

Pictured here, Pumice from the Mountains - “Thousands of floating boulders of pumice were gathered, drilled and threaded with stainless steel cable into tall hollow helical forms. The pumice originally exploded from Lake Taupo approx 2000 years ago and is still continually eroding and being washed down the Wanganui River. The sculpture symbolises the volcanic mountains from where the pumice erupted so long ago.”

Free mobile phone wallpaper

freewallpaper.png

Download some really extraordinary mobile wallpaper this weekend from the Imaginary Foundation.

Ten different designs are available; from vaguely Monty Python-esque creations to outright “what the heck IS that?” stuff. Much better than the stock wallpaper choices that come with most mobile phones, that’s for sure.
